Biography
In January 2020 , Alison Byrne went to Ailfionn Studios to begin recording Through the Window, which took four years to finish, thanks to a global pandemic and the arrivals of two bonny babies. A lot of the synths were recorded at home and then built on in the studio with the help of some fine musicians. The songs are about family, friendship, love, grief and dirty liars - and the mental health we all struggle to maintain.
Last Days (2017) , an EP, was Alison’s first solo recording as Leda for King. It was written and arranged by her and recorded in Ailfionn Studios with Christopher Barry.
Alison started by playing classical piano and oboe through her teens. When she left school she immediately joined country band Bray Vista as a vocalist. You can find their back catalogue here: https://open.spotify.com/artist/60b1XKDrFLyKlFzddxunNd/discography
Bray Vista recorded albums with Karl Odlum, as well as Leo Pearson and Jim Lauderdale. The band stopped playing together regularly in 2008. Alison subsequently went on to join The Blood Red Mountain Band from 2012 to summer 2016. You can find their album “Far From Daylight”, which was produced by Anthony Gibney in Audioland Studios here: https://itunes.apple.com/ie/artist/the-blood-red-mountain-band/id283719870
She is also a member of Ain’t Saint John as a vocalist and, once only, an organist. Here’s Yola, https://aintsaintjohn.bandcamp.com/track/yola
